Experience and Qualifications
I have worked as a counsellor for nine years in a variety of settings, so I have extensive and broad ranging counselling experience. I have been a counsellor in Leeds Met University's Counselling Service, worked for the Counselling and Therapy Service at Leeds MIND (the mental health charity), worked privately and with clients who have been referred by their GPs or the companies/organisations that they work for. I also work as a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Met University in the Centre for Psychological Therapies teaching people about counselling. You can look me up on the Leeds Met website:
www.leedsmet.ac.uk (Faculty of Health; Psychological Therapies and Mental Health)
I have been accredited by the Brisish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (that's what the MBACP (Accred) after my name means). This is a rigorous process. It means I have demonstrated that I am experienced, that I have a clear philosophy/way of working and that I reflect on the work that I do and the people that I work with. You can look me up on the BACP website too under 'Find a Therapist'. My membership number is 539502.

The UKRCP after my name means that I am registered with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors/Psychotherapists. The UKRCP is an unbiased register of independent Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and to be registered with them members have to have been accredited by a recognised UKRCP accrediting organisation. (Ref. no. 3786)

I receive regular supervision for my work, in line with BACP guidelines, and work within the Ethical Framework of the BACP. In terms of continuing professional development, I attend numerous courses and conferences annually to ensure that I remain a competent, well informed and, I hope, reflective practitioner.
(I also have an MA in Cultural Studies. This relates to my previous career in television production and subsequently as a Lecturer in Media Studies).
